Volunteer at the campThe Woodsmoke Program is looking for volunteer counselors for one or two weeks during the last two weeks of July, 2008.

Counselors live and work with a group of approximately 10 children in 5-6th, 7-8th, or 9-12th grade.

Experience working with children, teaching environmental education, leading team building activities or spiritually oriented discussions are desired skills.

Counselors Sought For One-Week Events at Kingswood

Several male counselors are sought for the Grade 7-8 and Grade 9-10 events (youth entering Grades 7 and 8 or 9 and 10 in September 2008) for the week beginning Sunday, July 13 and the week beginning Sunday, July 20.

Each site has platform tents to accommodate five boys and five girls and their counselors; counselors also have the option of sleeping in separate domed tents.

Typical daily activities include morning watch, gathering of firewood, fire building, meal selection and preparation, Bible study, swimming, boating, hayrides, and campfires programs.

Experienced program support staff includes a Program Director, chaplain, nurse, lifeguards, and food service personnel.

Counselors are expected to participate in a day of orientation/training, from 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 25 through 2 p.m. on Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day). Counselors should also plan to arrive at Kingswood by 5 p.m. on Saturday, (July 19 or 26) for an introduction to the other Woodsmoke staff with whom they will serve and to prepare for the arrival of campers and their parents the following afternoon.

A $300 stipend is available for each week served. In lieu of the stipend, that amount may be applied to the fee of a child who may wish to enroll in any of the four age-designated events, (Grades 5-6, 7-8. 9-10, and 11-12.) that take place during each week of Woodsmoke.
