Woodsmoke Youth Camp
Woodsmoke Youth Camp 2017 – July 16 through 22
WOODSMOKE is a true camping adventure! YOU will learn a variety of outdoor skills, learn about the surrounding environment, live and work in a community, and develop spiritually. YOU will also have LOTS of FUN!!
WOODSMOKE hosts 4 age groups: week: 5th-6th grade, 7th-8th grade, 9th -10th grade, and 11th-12th grade with a maximum of 10 campers per group. Two experienced counselors supervise each group. Camp staff includes a registered nurse, program director, lifeguard, food-service and project management staff, and site manager. This is the ULTIMATE youth camp!
Where else can you commune with nature, eat homemade ice cream, and have the time of your life? You will have a blast working with your fellow campers on various service projects. You will leave with a good feeling of having done something special for someone else! After all, vegging out all summer long at home turns your brain into mush. Soooooo, take a week off from hanging out and build something that will be around for years to come!
Woodsmoke Activities include:
- Swimming in beautiful spring-fed Hathaway Pond
- Boating, canoeing and learning about pond creatures
- Nature walks and conservation activities that benefit local wildlife populations
- Service projects such as building new structures around the camp, designing and building trails, and learning how to get involved in a camper’s local community
WOODSMOKE’s rustic, peaceful setting, removed from the distractions of everyday modern life, provides an excellent opportunity for young people to develop their own sense of spirituality. We discuss and consider different spiritual beliefs. Campers are encouraged to grow spiritually. They learn to live and work together in a community, as well as the value of service and outreach through the completion of service projects that help make Kingswood a better place. Each project teaches a variety of skills such as project design, research, and carpentry.
“Come and have a great time with us this summer—meet new and old friends, gain skills, and enjoy the outdoors! We’ll see you there!” Please register below!
HEALTH AND SAFETY – Woodsmoke Youth Camp meets the stringent NY State Dept. of Health Children’s Camp requirements. Woodsmoke has a Registered Nurse onsite.
STAFF – It takes strong character and leadership skills to be a dynamite camp counselor, and that’s exactly what we look for in our staff. We select creative, fun, inspiring individuals who have a passion for working with children. Many of our counselors have been Woodsmoke campers themselves.
Every staff member undergoes an in-depth interview process, reference checks, and background checks. Before campers arrive, we hold an in-depth staff orientation that focuses on risk management and age-appropriate program planning. Our waterfront is under the supervision of an experienced lifeguard with current American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard certification, which includes First Aid and CPR.
