2010 WEEKLY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Morning Watch: 7a.m. - Start the day at the beautiful outdoor chapel overlooking the pond for a time of quiet reflection. Join Holly for a time of meditation on Joan Chittister’s book:The Breath of the Soul:Reflections on Prayer. Boating - Daily: 7 a.m. to Dusk Swimming - Daily: 1:00 – 5:00 Sundays: 10 a.m. - Informal worship at the chapel. In case of rain, the service is held in the lower barn. Mondays: 10 a.m.-noon - “On-site Insights.” A workshop to improve your campfire cooking skills. Menu: Bags of Gold, Cinnamon Roll Cups in Oranges, Apricot Chicken, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie Iron Treats. Meet at Tent and Trailer. Tuesdays: 10 a.m.-noon - Nature Activity: “The Night Sky.” Come learn about the moon and the constellations we can see so clearly at Kingswood. Make a star clock, a moon flip book, or a constellation card. Visit our Kingswood “mini-planetarium.” Borrow a telescope to use at night. 6 p.m. - Manager’s Pot Luck Supper. A Kingswood fellowship tradition. Sign up at the barn (number of people) and tell us what dish you’ll be bringing. 6:45 p.m. - Hand-cranked ice cream making & eating at the barn. Mmm! Wednesdays: 10 a.m.-noon – Craft Area Activity: Pressed Flowers from Kingswood - Learn how to press flowers. Use previously pressed flowers to make stationary, luminaries, photo frames or bookmarks. Thursdays: 10 a.m. - Hike day! We’ll provide a guided hike to some part of the 766 acre site, led by various Kingswood friends. See bulletin board for details. 7 p.m. - A Kingswood family tradition; tractor-powered evening “Hey! Ride.” Harry (our 1953 Ferguson tractor) chugs off from the parking field across from the farmhouse, follows camp roads, and then heads off into the woods and fields for an old-fashioned ride. Bring your voice, instruments, and join the fun. Only 20 seats…so sign up at the barn! Fridays: 10 a.m. - 11:30 Stone Ministry - Meet at the barn, and join others to affirm your faith, commemorate or celebrate a person or life event. Select your special stone and have it cemented into this permanent structure. See the Stone Ministry brochure for details. Sign up in the barn. 7-9 p.m. - An old-tyme Friday night social at the barn. We’ll serve snacks and drinks. This is an opportunity to meet other campers and staff, play board games, do jigsaw puzzles, and enjoy music and other activities. The store will be open and the Program Director will be available to answer any and all questions you may have about Kingswood and camping. Saturdays: Mornings: Start with Stone Ministry first, then do crafts, or vice versa.Two Stone Ministry programs: 9:30-11:30 a.m. (drop in and cement a stone – no sign-up necessary) or 2:00-3:30 p.m. (Meet at the barn for tractor ride. Traditional program.) See Friday at 10 a.m. for program details. Please sign up in the barn. 10 a.m.-noon: - Craft Area Activity: “Bleach-spritzed clothing” (start at 10 or start at 11) Bleach spritz designs on a dark colored t-shirt (or other clothing) that you bring from home. 5 and/or 7p.m. - A Kingswood “Hey! Ride” chugs off from the parking field across from the farmhouse. Sign up in the barn. 8 p.m. - Campfire at the teepee by the lake. S’mores, stories, songs and other activities.
